21 State Polytechnics to Get Modern Labs and Skills Training with Tata Support

Lucknow | 23, July 2025 : The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a plan to upgrade 121 government polytechnics. This work will happen with Tata Technology Limited (TTL). These new Tata Technology Excellence Centres in Uttar Pradesh Polytechnics will improve technical education.

Why Upgrade Is Needed

The state runs 147 government polytechnics. These colleges offer diplomas for one to three years. Many courses are now outdated. Industry needs new skills. Students must learn new technology and methods.

How the Centres Will Help

The new Tata Technology Excellence Centres in Uttar Pradesh Polytechnics will solve this gap. The centres will bring new machines, tools, and labs. Students will get training for current and future jobs.

How Much Will It Cost?

Who Pays for What?

Each institute will get machines and tools worth ₹5,732 lakh. For 121 colleges, the cost is about ₹69,358 lakh. Tata Technology Limited will pay 87% of this cost. The rest will come from the state government.

Also, the government will spend money on buildings and other needs. This adds about ₹709 lakh per college.

First Phase: Pilot Project

First, 45 colleges will be upgraded as a pilot. This will test how the new centres work.

What Students Will Get

Students will learn better skills. They will also build soft skills and confidence. This means they can find jobs faster. The centres will match students’ skills with what companies want.

Goal of the Project

The Tata Technology Excellence Centres in Uttar Pradesh Polytechnics will make diploma courses modern and useful. This helps students get good jobs. It also helps industries find skilled people.
