UP Excise Investors’ Summit Brings ₹3,600 Crore Investment for Alcohol Industry

Lucknow | 10, July 2025 : The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department, along with Invest UP, held a one-day Excise Investors’ Summit at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow. The summit aimed to attract new investments in the state’s alcohol-based industries.

₹3,600 Crore Investment Proposals Received

Nitin Agarwal, the state’s Excise Minister (Independent Charge), opened the event. The summit brought in proposals worth ₹3,600 crore. Many more investors also showed interest in setting up alcohol units in Uttar Pradesh.

Over 140 Proposals and Thousands of Jobs

In recent years, the Excise Department has received 142 proposals for alcohol industries. Of these, 135 MoUs have been signed. These deals could bring investments of ₹39,479 crore and create over 73,500 jobs.

Excise Revenue Triples in Seven Years

Dr. Adarsh Singh, Excise Commissioner, said the state’s excise revenue has grown sharply. In 2016–17, it was about ₹17,000 crore. Now, in 2024–25, it has jumped to ₹53,000 crore.

The state wants to grow more by promoting export-friendly policies.
