UP to Build World-Class Agri-Export Hub Near Noida International Airport
UP Aims to Boost Horticulture Exports

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government plans to build a modern agri-export facility near the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh shared this update on Friday at the launch of the Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2025.
The new centre will be India’s first of its kind. It will help Uttar Pradesh and nearby states export more farm and horticulture produce directly by air.
UP Leads India in Mango Production
Singh highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is the top mango producer in India. He said,
“Farmers grow mangoes on over 3.25 lakh hectares in UP. The state produces nearly 6.15 million metric tonnes of mangoes every year.”
He credited Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for giving UP mangoes global reach. Today, UP mangoes reach about 20 countries. Recently, the Chief Minister flagged off fresh mango exports to London and the UAE.
Jewar Agri-Export Hub: A Game-Changer
All Export Treatments Under One Roof
Singh explained why the new facility is crucial. Different countries ask for different treatments before allowing fruit imports. For example:
- The US needs gamma radiation treatment for mangoes.
- Japan needs hot water vapour treatment.
- Many countries test pesticide residue levels too.
Currently, India does not have a single hub where all these treatments happen together. This new centre will change that.
Talks with the World Bank
The state is in talks with the World Bank for support. Once ready, the hub will offer farmers testing, treatment, packaging, and cargo export services — all at one place.
Jewar Airport Will Unlock Air Cargo Potential
Singh added that this move will help India use air cargo for farm exports at scale. Uttar Pradesh has huge potential. About 75% of its land is farmed. Over 86% of farmland is irrigated. Yet, agri-exports by air remain low.
“Jewar airport will help us send produce worldwide in large volumes,” Singh said.
Plan to Raise Farmers’ Income
UP to Market Produce Globally
Singh stressed that farmers earn more when they sell in richer markets. So, under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, a team of officials and the horticulture minister will visit other countries. They will promote UP’s mangoes and other produce there.
Jewar Airport: Key for Future Exports
The Noida International Airport is being built in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar district, western Uttar Pradesh. The project is running behind schedule. The first phase was meant to open in 2024. However, the government has not given an official date for commercial flights yet.
