AKTU 24th Convocation 2026 Scheduled for July 7
Lucknow | July 6, 2026 : Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) will host the AKTU 24th Convocation 2026 on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:45 AM. The ceremony will take place at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Auditorium on the university campus.
The event will be chaired by Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel. Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Chairman Arvinder Singh Sahney will attend as the Chief Guest. Technical Education Minister Ashish Patel will join the ceremony as the Guest of Honour.
The AKTU 24th Convocation 2026 will honour outstanding students, researchers, innovators, and startup founders while highlighting the university’s achievements in technical education.
62,537 Students to Receive Degrees During the Convocation
A total of 62,537 students will receive their academic degrees during the ceremony. In addition, 53 research scholars will be awarded their PhD degrees.
The university will also present 84 medals to 83 students, including:
- 35 Gold Medals
- 23 Silver Medals
- 24 Bronze Medals
- 2 Special Awards
Among the medal winners, 52 are women and 31 are men, reflecting strong academic performance by female students.
Chancellor Medal and Special Awards Announced
The prestigious Chancellor Medal will be awarded to Anshika Rana, a B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering student from Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad.
The Kamal Rani Varun Memorial Gold Medal will be presented to Ishika, a B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) student from KIET Group of Institutions.
The university will also confer the Honorary Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) upon renowned Rogan Art artist Kansara Ashish Shantilal for his exceptional contribution to traditional Indian art.
AKTU Startup Awards to Encourage Young Entrepreneurs
One of the biggest highlights of the AKTU 24th Convocation 2026 will be the presentation of the Student Startup Awards.
AKTU remains the only technical university in Uttar Pradesh to recognise student entrepreneurs during its convocation ceremony.
Awards will be presented in five categories:
- Women-Led Startup Award
- Best Deep Tech Student Startup Award
- Best Tech Innovation Startup Award
- Agriculture and Agritech Student Startup Award
- Sustainable and Green Startup Award
The Women-Led Startup Award requires a woman director to hold at least 25% ownership in the startup.
Meanwhile, Deep Tech startups will be recognised for advanced technologies, while Tech Innovation awards will honour startups developing patented products, digital platforms, or innovative services. Agritech startups will be rewarded for creating technology-driven agricultural solutions.
Books Released, School Children Honoured and Cultural Performances Planned
The Chancellor will release books written by AKTU faculty members during the ceremony.
Students from six villages adopted by the university will also receive awards for excellence in:
- Painting
- Storytelling
- Speech competitions
In addition, children will perform songs and short acts focused on environmental protection and water conservation.
A group of 15 children from Bal Grih Balika, Sindhikheda will present a traditional folk dance.
The Governor will also distribute symbolic kits to five Anganwadi centres.
Following the convocation, AKTU will organise a Mother-Daughter Conference on the university campus.
AKTU Continues to Strengthen Technical Education
AKTU has continued to improve academic quality while creating better career opportunities for students.
The university has expanded research activities, promoted innovation, and strengthened industry partnerships. At the same time, it has focused on making technical education more relevant to society.
Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey, the university achieved a historic milestone by earning NAAC A+ accreditation in its first assessment. This achievement marked the first NAAC grading in AKTU’s 25-year history.
The university has also introduced interdisciplinary B.Tech programmes in emerging technologies, including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Machine Learning (ML)
- VLSI Technology
These programmes align with current industry demands and have attracted strong student interest.
National Education Policy 2020 Driving Academic Reforms
AKTU is actively implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Students can now pursue Major and Minor degrees simultaneously. The university has also introduced Minor Degree programmes in:
- Space Technology
- Quantum Technology
Regular workshops, industrial training, and placement programmes have helped students secure jobs in leading companies through campus recruitment.
Innovation Ecosystem Expands Across Uttar Pradesh
The university has taken several major steps to promote entrepreneurship and research.

- One District One Incubation Centre initiative
- Innovation Hub registered as a Section 8 Company
- ₹100 crore Innovation Fund
- Kalam Patent Centre for intellectual property support
- Expansion of the Visvesvaraya Research Promotion Scheme from 25 to 50 scholars
These initiatives aim to create a stronger innovation ecosystem while encouraging research-based entrepreneurship.
Future Vision: AI Hub and Centres of Excellence
AKTU plans to become a leading Artificial Intelligence hub in India.
The university also intends to establish multiple Centres of Excellence in emerging technologies. In addition, a dedicated Skill Development Centre will strengthen students’ industry-ready skills and improve employability.
