UP Youth Will Get Free Tablets Under Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana
Tablets to Empower Students Under Swami Vivekananda Yojana for Better Learning and Digital Growth

Lucknow | 23, July 2025 : The UP government has changed the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana. Now, students will get only free tablets. They will not get smartphones anymore. The plan to buy 25 lakh smartphones has been cancelled.
Tablets Are More Useful
Tablets are better than smartphones for students. They have bigger screens. They work well for study apps. Tablets help students read and join online classes. They last longer because they have better batteries.
Who Gets These Free Tablets?
Students in graduation, post-graduation, diploma, skill training, or paramedical courses will get free tablets. The Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana helps students finish their courses. They can also use tablets to get jobs later.
More Than 53 Lakh Devices Given
So far, students have received 22.8 lakh tablets and 37.2 lakh smartphones. In total, more than 53 lakh students have got devices. The rest will get tablets soon.
Big Budget for Youth
This scheme will run for five years. For 2025–26, the government has kept ₹2,000 crore. The goal is to help young people study better and become skilled.
