Uttar Pradesh SDG Progress : State Makes a Big Leap in India

Uttar Pradesh SDG Progress

Lucknow | 9, July 2025 : Uttar Pradesh has become one of India’s top performers in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index. The state’s SDG score jumped from 42 in 2018–19 to 67 in 2023–24 — a big 25-point rise that moved UP from ‘Performer’ to ‘Front Runner’ in just five years.

UP Climbs 11 Places in the National SDG Index

This strong progress has helped Uttar Pradesh move up from 29th to 18th place — the biggest jump by any state during this time.

CM Yogi Adityanath: Policies and People Made It Happen

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called this rise a big milestone. He said clear policies, solid plans, and people’s trust made this success possible.

“This is not just about scores. It shows real change for the last person in society,” he said.

Key Schemes Powering UP’s Sustainable Development

The Chief Minister credited several state schemes for this success. These include:

Focus on Girls, Women, and Villages

Schemes like Mission Shakti have boosted girls’ education and women’s safety. Schools now have better basic services. More families in villages get health care and better food.

Next Steps: Keep the Progress Going

Work in Mission Mode

The Chief Minister told all departments to work in mission mode. He said every village must get full information about these schemes. Benefits must reach the right people on time.

Good Data Means Better Plans

He stressed the need for clear and timely data. The state will now prepare SDG reports for every district.

“Data is the base of good policy. Without good data, planning is weak,” CM Yogi said.

A Model for Other States

Uttar Pradesh is showing how good policies, strong planning, and people’s help can create real change at the grassroots.
