UP Excise Investors’ Summit Brings ₹3,600 Crore Investment for Alcohol Industry

State Government Backs Alcohol Sector with Big Investments, Easy Policies, and Jobs for Thousands

Lucknow | 10, July 2025 : The Uttar Pradesh Excise Department, along with Invest UP, held a one-day Excise Investors’ Summit at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow. The summit aimed to attract new investments in the state’s alcohol-based industries.

₹3,600 Crore Investment Proposals Received

Nitin Agarwal, the state’s Excise Minister (Independent Charge), opened the event. The summit brought in proposals worth ₹3,600 crore. Many more investors also showed interest in setting up alcohol units in Uttar Pradesh.

Over 140 Proposals and Thousands of Jobs

In recent years, the Excise Department has received 142 proposals for alcohol industries. Of these, 135 MoUs have been signed. These deals could bring investments of ₹39,479 crore and create over 73,500 jobs.

Big Projects Ready to Take Off

So far:

  • 46 projects are GBC-Ready. This means land is bought and papers are cleared on the Invest UP portal.
  • These ready projects add up to ₹7,888 crore in investments.
  • 19 units are already running. They have brought in ₹2,339 crore and created 2,316 jobs.
  • 27 projects are under construction.

Excise Revenue Triples in Seven Years

Dr. Adarsh Singh, Excise Commissioner, said the state’s excise revenue has grown sharply. In 2016–17, it was about ₹17,000 crore. Now, in 2024–25, it has jumped to ₹53,000 crore.

The state wants to grow more by promoting export-friendly policies.

A Safe and Simple Place to Invest

The Excise Minister said the government is committed to helping businesses grow. The department is:

  • Making rules easier.
  • Using digital tools for faster work.
  • Keeping policies steady to build trust.

Single Window for Investors

Shashank Chaudhary, Additional CEO of Invest UP, spoke about the support system for new businesses. He said:

  • The ‘Nivesh Mitra’ portal gives quick approvals.
  • Udyami Mitras help investors at every step.
  • Over 33 policies give extra benefits like capital help and subsidies.

Summit Draws Indian and Global Firms

The summit saw investors, companies, and startups from India and abroad. The aim was to boost alcohol making, selling, and marketing in UP. The state wants to build an easy and clear policy system for all.
