CM Yogi Opens ₹941 Crore Healthcare Projects at KGMU Lucknow
Big Boost for Healthcare at KGMU

Lucknow | 15, July 2025 : On Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched and started work on seven new healthcare projects at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow.
These projects are worth ₹941 crore. They mark 120 years of KGMU’s work in medical education and public health. CM Yogi called KGMU a symbol of India’s medical strength and a centre of public service.
New Cardiology Wing Adds 92 Beds
One key project is a new 92-bed Cardiology Wing. This will increase the total cardiology beds at KGMU to 176.
The extra beds will help more patients get heart treatment without long waits.
Latest Heart Care Technology
The new wing, built for ₹105 crore, has:
- Modern Cath Labs
- 3D heart scan systems
- ICUs with 96 bedside monitors
- High-end machines for heart checks
First Orthopaedic Super Speciality Centre in UP
CM Yogi also opened Uttar Pradesh’s first Orthopaedic Super Speciality Centre. It cost ₹86 crore to build.
This centre has 340 beds and eight operation theatres. It will offer:
- Bone treatment for children
- Sports injury care
- Joint replacement surgeries
- The state’s first bone bank
- 24-hour pharmacy counters
New Trauma-2 Centre for Critical Care
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the new Trauma-2 Centre. This will cost ₹273 crore.
It will have:
- 500 beds
- Nine operation theatres
- Parking for 250+ vehicles
- A waiting area, kitchen, café, and dining hall for patients’ families
The Trauma-2 Centre will be ready in two years. It will be the first Category-1 trauma facility in the state.
Other New Medical Buildings
Other projects started by CM Yogi include:
- A General Surgery building worth ₹378 crore with 12 OTs, robotic surgery, ICUs, and solar power
- A new diagnostic lab, admin building, patient hostel, and guest house costing ₹99.10 crore
Medical Services for Small Towns
CM Yogi spoke about KGMU’s Balrampur Satellite Centre. He said better medical services in small towns will reduce the load on big hospitals like KGMU, SGPGI, and PGI.
Innovation with IIT Kanpur
CM Yogi also announced a new Centre of Excellence in Medical Technology with IIT Kanpur.
He asked KGMU and SGPGI to lead in research and new ideas. He said this will help India become self-reliant in medical technology.

The Chief Minister thanked people for trusting KGMU. He called this trust the university’s biggest strength.
He told doctors and staff to:

New Healthcare Projects to Help Millions
These new projects show the state’s focus on better hospitals, new technology, and good care for all. KGMU will keep growing as a top medical centre for Uttar Pradesh and India.
