Green Pathway Kukrail River Project to Boost Lucknow’s Eco Spaces

550-Metre Green Pathway Planned Along Kukrail River

Lucknow | 19, July 2025 : A new Green Pathway Kukrail River project will soon add fresh life to Lucknow’s landscape. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) will build a 550-metre-long walkway on both banks of the river.

LDA and LMC to Work Jointly

The LDA will develop one side while the LMC handles the other. This ensures the design and construction match perfectly. The plan covers plantation, landscaping, lighting, and full beautification works.

Protective Casing and Urban Forests

Protective casing will make the pathways stronger. The plan also includes planting flowering, edible, and medicinal plants. These will create themed urban forests on both banks of the river.

Saumitra Van: A New Park Near Kukrail

A special green zone named Saumitra Van will also come up. The LDA reclaimed 14 acres of land for it. Visitors will find lawns, kids’ play areas, green spaces, and safe walking paths. High-mast lights, façade lights, and underground pipelines will keep the area safe and green.

DM Pushes for Behta and Kakarabad Rivers

District Magistrate Vishak G has ordered surveys along the Behta river in Jehata and Kakarabad. The aim is to study depth and flow. The Revenue Department will map borders to remove illegal encroachments.

Check Dams for Water Flow

To keep the Behta river alive all year, check dams, water tanks, and recharge zones will be built. This effort supports the main Green Pathway Kukrail River plan by ensuring a healthy water flow.

More Green for Lucknow

The Green Pathway Kukrail River plan promises clean air, safe walkways, and nature zones for all. New lawns, gardens, and kids’ play areas will help Lucknow grow greener for everyone.
