Uttar Pradesh Transport Department Achieves Record Growth and EV Push in Q1 FY 2025–26

Strong Start to the New Financial Year

Lucknow | 8, July 2025 : The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department started this financial year well. It crossed its revenue goal for the first quarter and saw big growth in electric vehicles and online services.

Revenue Grows by 10% in Q1

From April to June 2025, the department earned ₹2,913.78 crore. This is 10.39% more than last year’s first quarter. It reached 85% of its target, so hitting the ₹14,000 crore yearly goal looks likely.

More Tax Relief for EV Buyers

In the first quarter, 70,770 electric vehicles got tax cuts worth ₹255.50 crore. Buyers are not just picking cheap models. More urban families are choosing electric cars and bikes too.

Uttar Pradesh now has over 12.29 lakh registered electric vehicles — the highest in India.

More Vehicles and Better Digital Services

This quarter, people registered 1,17,774 new transport vehicles like buses and trucks. They also registered 9,67,476 non-transport vehicles like cars and bikes. Both numbers grew over last year. This shows people have more money to buy vehicles.

More than 90% of all taxes and fees were paid online. People trust the online system. Services for driving licenses brought in ₹84.50 crore. E-challans and summons added ₹30.45 crore.

Smart Reforms and Stable Revenue

Even with tax cuts for EVs, the department’s income grew. This shows smart reforms can bring clean growth and steady money.

“These results are not just numbers. Good rules, better tech, and people’s trust make transport a part of bigger change in Uttar Pradesh,” said Brajesh Narayan Singh, Transport Commissioner.
