Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh: In a bold leap towards industrial self-reliance and regional transformation, Uttar Pradesh is laying the foundation for what could become one of India’s largest and most advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing hubs. Nestled in the heart of Bundelkhand’s Lalitpur district, the state’s upcoming 1,472-acre Pharma Park is not just a development project — it’s a strategic game-changer.
Backed by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA), the park is expected to attract over ₹12,000 crore in investments, create 14,000+ jobs, and catapult UP into the elite league of bulk drug manufacturing states alongside Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
First-of-its-Kind Eco-Smart Infrastructure
Phase one of the project — spread across 353 acres — is already underway with environmental clearances in place and land allotments actively being made. One of the park’s most impressive features? A Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system that ensures not a single drop of industrial wastewater escapes untreated — making it one of India’s greenest industrial zones.
India’s First ‘Plug-and-Play’ Pharma Zone
Designed to meet global standards, the Pharma Park is being developed as a fully plug-and-play facility. It will include:
- Underground utility corridors
- Climate-controlled warehouses
- Solvent recovery systems
- Integrated logistics chains
- CCTV surveillance and on-site accommodations
- In-house skill development centers
“This isn’t just a pharma park — it’s an industrial ecosystem ready for the future,” said Mayur Maheshwari, CEO of UPSIDA.
Strategic Roadshows Ignite Investor Interest
To showcase the park’s potential, UPSIDA has launched high-impact roadshows across the country. After a successful outreach in Ahmedabad, plans are in motion for similar investor meets in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh — all aimed at drawing in pharma giants and biotech innovators.
The response has been swift. At the Ahmedabad event, several companies sealed investment commitments:
- CSL Life Sciences Pvt Ltd: ₹200 crore IV bottle and OSD manufacturing plant; 250+ jobs.
- Mediheath Diagnostic Pvt Ltd: Diagnostic facility on 4,200 m² of land.
- Gaman Irradiation: ₹35 crore for skin treatment and irradiation unit; 150+ jobs.
- Obmed Pharma: ₹200 crore formulation plant; 100+ jobs.
An Ecosystem of Innovation and Opportunity
Partnering with Assystem India Ltd, a firm renowned for designing world-class pharma parks like Vizag, the project is being developed with support from PWD, power departments, IITs, DRDO, and other institutions. With land acquisition complete, on-ground construction is gaining momentum.
Lalitpur’s excellent logistics connectivity, affordable industrial land, and proximity to the Jhansi Defence Corridor node only add to its strategic appeal.
The Big Picture: A Trillion-Dollar Vision
This mega pharma park is not just an industrial move — it’s a cornerstone of UP’s ambition to become a USD 1 trillion economy. It promises to revitalize Bundelkhand, unlock local employment, and place Uttar Pradesh at the forefront of India’s pharmaceutical self-sufficiency mission.
With the groundwork laid and investor confidence rising, Lalitpur is poised to become the new epicenter of India’s pharmaceutical future.
