Lucknow | 12, July 2025 : Fruit Wine Production in Uttar Pradesh is getting a major push. The Excise Department and Invest UP are working together to make the state a top place for fruit wine. They want to bring in big wine makers from Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Top companies like Sula Vineyards and Good Drop Wine Cellars Pvt Ltd are already looking at Uttar Pradesh.
A big step forward is Good Drop Wine Cellars, which is setting up a new plant in Rania, Kanpur Dehat.

Uttar Pradesh has not grown many grapes. So, it could not compete with states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, or Goa in wine making.

Good Drop Wine’s Big Plan
Ashwin Rodrigues, Director of Good Drop Wine Cellars, says their new plant will start in six months. They will use local fruits and honey for wine. Ashwin is also Secretary of the Wine Growers Association of India.

New Policies to Help Wine Makers
Excise Commissioner Dr Adarsh Singh says the government wants to help the wine business grow. It offers:
- A five-year break on excise duty
- Permission to open retail shops
