MoUs, global buyers, and export initiatives aim to increase farmer incomes and expand Uttar Pradesh's mango presence worldwide.

Lucknow | July 5, 2026 : The UP Mango Buyer-Seller Meet 2026 marked a major step toward expanding Uttar Pradesh’s presence in international fruit markets. Held during the second day of the three-day Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival 2026 at Jan Bhawan in Lucknow, the event brought together mango growers, exporters, processors, and domestic and international buyers on a common platform.

The initiative aims to increase mango exports, improve farmers’ incomes, and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as India’s leading mango-producing state.

A Platform That Connects Farmers with Global Buyers

The UP Mango Buyer-Seller Meet 2026 focused on creating direct business opportunities between mango farmers and buyers from India and overseas.

Several exporters and producers signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the event. These agreements will help build long-term trade partnerships and improve market access for Uttar Pradesh’s mango growers.

The event was attended by Governor Anandiben Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, and Horticulture Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh.

UP Produces More Than One-Fourth of India’s Mangoes

Speaking at the event, Horticulture Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s leadership in mango production.

According to the minister:

  • Uttar Pradesh contributes nearly 26% of India’s total mango production.
  • The state offers subsidies of up to 50% for food processing units.
  • More food processing industries can create value for farmers and reduce post-harvest losses.

The government also encouraged private investment in mango processing and export infrastructure to increase the value of agricultural produce.

Jewar Airport Expected to Boost Mango Exports

One of the key announcements during the programme focused on the upcoming Noida International Airport (Jewar Airport).

The airport is expected to improve logistics for fresh fruit exports by reducing transportation time and maintaining product quality.

As a result, mango growers in Uttar Pradesh will gain faster access to international markets while buyers will receive fresher produce. Better connectivity is also expected to increase export volumes and improve farmers’ earnings.

Experts Guide Farmers on Modern Mango Cultivation

Alongside business meetings, experts conducted technical sessions for farmers.

The sessions covered:

Safe Harvesting Techniques

Farmers learned scientific methods to harvest mangoes without damaging fruit quality.

Experts explained better storage, grading, packaging, and transportation practices.

Value Addition

Farmers received guidance on processing mangoes into pulp, juices, pickles, dried products, and other value-added items.

Startup Opportunities

Why Horticulture Matters to Uttar Pradesh

  • 42% of total agricultural production
  • 52% of the overall value of agricultural produce

These figures highlight the strong economic potential of horticulture and justify continued investment in infrastructure, exports, and processing.
