Govt greenlights ₹417 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in UP's Gautam Buddha Nagar to drive innovation, investment, and job creation.

Lucknow | 26, June 2025 : The Government of India has granted approval for a ₹417 crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) to be developed in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, with the goal of promoting local innovation and electronics manufacturing. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, the cluster is projected to attract an investment of ₹2,500 crore. It will support the production of consumer electronics, automotive and industrial electronics, medical devices, computer hardware, and communication equipment.

Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, stated that

“the project will lead to the creation of world-class infrastructure and generate 15,000 jobs.”

He further emphasized that the move aligns with the government’s broader focus on scaling up electronics manufacturing in the country.

The project will be implemented by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the proposed Palwal-Khurja Expressway, the site benefits from close proximity to key transport links including a railway station and the Jewar International Airport.

The proposed Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Gautam Buddha Nagar will also be surrounded by key industrial zones such as the Medical Device Park, MSME & Apparel Park, and the Aviation Hub, making it an attractive destination for industrial investment.

So far, around ₹30,000 crore has been invested in EMC projects under the scheme. The initiative has already attracted over 520 companies, resulting in the creation of more than 86,000 jobs, according to official figures.

The upcoming cluster is designed to support startups, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with access to world-class plug-and-play infrastructure and shared industrial facilities. These include standard factory sheds, electricity, water provisioning, sewage treatment, hostels, skill development centers, and healthcare facilities—all aimed at reducing operational and logistics costs for industries.

This project marks a significant step toward strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s position as a hub for high-tech electronics and industrial manufacturing in India.
