Chitrakoot Link Expressway to Improve Roads and Tourism
₹939.67 Crore Approved for New Expressway

Lucknow | 23, July 2025 : The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has cleared the Chitrakoot Link Expressway project. The 15.17 km road will be built as a 4-lane highway, expandable to 6 lanes. The total cost is ₹939.67 crore.
Where Will It Run?
The new road will start near Bharatkoop on the Varanasi-Banda Highway (NH 35/76) in Chitrakoot. It will end at Ahmedganj on NH 135 BG. The road will have a 110-meter wide area for safe movement.
Strong and Fast Road
The expressway will handle speeds up to 120 km/hr. All bridges and structures will be ready for six lanes when needed.
Bridges, Flyovers, and Safety
The project includes:
- 1 big bridge and 4 small bridges
- 1 flyover
- 17 underpasses and 23 culverts
- A toll plaza at km 6
- A public facility at km 2
- Service roads on both sides where needed
- Wire fencing along the road for safety
- Crash barriers on both sides and in the middle for extra safety
Smart Systems and Green Touch
The Chitrakoot Link Expressway will have a smart traffic system to manage flow. Trees will be planted in the middle and along both sides. Also, rainwater harvesting will be done every 500 meters.
Emergency Help 24×7
After building, the road will have an ambulance and crane service ready all day and night for any emergencies.
Fully State-Funded
The state will pay for the full project. There will be no help from the Centre. The building agency must also keep the road in good shape for five years.
Big Boost for Bundelkhand
The Bundelkhand Expressway is already working and connects many districts to Lucknow and NCR. The new Chitrakoot Link Expressway will connect the Bundelkhand Expressway to Chitrakoot Dham. This will cut travel time for tourists and help locals too. Better roads will grow tourism and jobs in the Bundelkhand region.
