Stamp Duty Rebate for Women in Uttar Pradesh Gets Cabinet Nod
Uttar Pradesh Expands Stamp Duty Savings to Empower More Women Homeowners

Lucknow | 23, July 2025 : The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a new Stamp Duty Rebate for Women in Uttar Pradesh. This move cuts stamp duty costs for women who buy property.
What Is the New Rebate?
Women will get a 1% rebate on stamp duty on property worth up to ₹1 crore. This means if a woman buys a property of ₹1 crore, she saves ₹1 lakh in stamp duty. Earlier, this benefit was limited to only ₹10 lakh property value.
Why Is This Important?
The Stamp Duty Rebate for Women in Uttar Pradesh will help more women own property. This supports the Mission Shakti plan of the state government. Women who own property gain respect and become more financially secure.
What Was the Rule Before?
Before this change, women got a 1% rebate only for property up to ₹10 lakh. The maximum saving was ₹10,000. If the property was more than ₹10 lakh, the rebate did not increase. Now, the limit is higher.
How Does the Law Support This?
The Indian Stamp Act, 1899 lets states decide stamp duty rates. The Uttar Pradesh government can change these rates for deeds signed in the state. This new change uses the same legal power.
How Will This Help?
More Women Will Own Property
Lower costs will encourage families to register property in a woman’s name. This will boost women’s confidence and role in society.
Supports National Goals
The Government of India also plans to lower stamp duty for women. This step in Uttar Pradesh matches that goal.
The Stamp Duty Rebate for Women in Uttar Pradesh will help many women become property owners. It cuts costs and supports women’s freedom and respect. More women owners mean stronger families and a stronger state economy.
