New 1,000-Bed Lohia Hospital 2.0 to Expand Healthcare at Shaheed Path, Lucknow
Lucknow | 23, July 2025 : A new hospital, Lohia Hospital 2.0, will come up at Shaheed Path, Lucknow. It will have 1,000 beds. This will expand Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital’s services to more people. The goal is to give better and faster care to the people of Uttar Pradesh.
Built on 21 Acres of Land
A New Campus with Modern Design
Lohia Hospital 2.0 will be built on 21 acres. This land belongs to the Maternal & Child Hospital. The cost of the new hospital is ₹700 crore. This does not include the cost of the land. The state wants to make healthcare stronger in Lucknow.
Modern Care for Patients
Emergency Block and ICU Beds
The new hospital will start with an emergency block. It will have 500 to 600 beds at first. Later, it will expand to 1,000 beds. There will be over 200 ICU beds. Modern labs, X-rays, CT scans, and other services will be there too.
Special Units for Better Treatment
Lohia Hospital 2.0 will have many units. These include trauma care, heart care, brain surgery, bone care, and stomach treatment. There will also be a big OPD block. It will have 12 or more departments for different treatments.
Better Learning for Medical Students
Good News for MBBS Students
A new teaching block will help MBBS students learn better. Right now, students have to travel 8 km every day from Vibhuti Khand. With Lohia Hospital 2.0, they will have more space and modern labs in one place. The plan includes a skill and training centre too.

Approval and Timeline
The plan for Lohia Hospital 2.0 got approval in late 2024. The OPD building plan was given in mid-2025. The goal is to finish work in two years. Once ready, the new hospital will double the beds at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
