Kanpur Riverfront Project: CM Yogi Clears ₹37,000 Crore for City Makeover

Massive ₹37,000 crore Kanpur Riverfront Project aims to ease traffic, boost tourism, and give the city a fresh, green look.

Lucknow | 24, July 2025 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved a huge plan for Kanpur. The Kanpur Riverfront Project will cost ₹37,000 crore. It will not only beautify the city but also fix traffic issues. The Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) will lead the work, while other departments will fully support it.

First Phase Will Open 8-Km Ganga Stretch

To start with, the first phase will build an 8-kilometre riverfront from Atal Ghat to Shuklaganj. As part of this, new picnic spots will come up at Atal Ghat, Paramat, Siddhnath, and Shuklaganj Ghat. Besides this, a new Ganga Marg will run along the river to take traffic away from VIP Road.

Meeting Held to Speed Up the Work

Recently, officials held a meeting on video call to push the plan ahead. Teams from the Bridge and Irrigation Departments joined the talks. Neeraj Srivastava, Advisor to the Committee, confirmed that the detailed plan is almost ready. Soon, a consultant will come on board to guide the work. In fact, the new design will take good ideas from Patna’s riverfront.

Long Dream Gets Fresh Push

Although the Kanpur Riverfront Project started back in 2014, it moved slowly. Now, things have changed for the better. Different teams are working together to speed it up. KDA Vice-President Madan Singh Garbyal, Secretary Abhay Pandey, and other senior officers are working hard to bring the plan to life.

Better Roads and Beautiful Spots for All

Once finished, the new project will do two things at once. First, it will make travel smooth by easing traffic jams. Second, it will create clean and green places for people to enjoy. Families will get picnic spots, walkways, and pretty views along the Ganga.

How Kanpur Will Benefit

When complete, this plan will:\n\n- Cut down traffic on VIP Road\n- Add clean picnic areas by the river\n- Make the riverfront a fun place for everyone\n- Connect the city better and boost its beauty

A Big Step for Kanpur’s Bright Future

Clearly, the green light for the Kanpur Riverfront Project is great news for the city. With solid teamwork and new ideas, Kanpur will soon be cleaner, greener, and more modern for residents and visitors alike.
