Developed Agriculture Will Make Uttar Pradesh Strong: CM Yogi Adityanath
CM Yogi Outlines Vision for Stronger UP Through Modern Farming and Local Research

Lucknow | 23, July 2025 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that nature and God have blessed Uttar Pradesh. He spoke about the state’s huge farming potential. He addressed everyone at the 36th Foundation Day of the Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Research (UPCAR) at the Indian Sugarcane Research Institute, Lucknow.
Most Land Has Irrigation, Says CM
The CM shared that over 86% of land here has irrigation. Four farm universities already run in the state, and a fifth one will open soon. More than 15 farm research centres work for farmers. Also, 89 Krishi Vigyan Kendras help farmers adopt new ideas.
Scientists and Farmer Groups Get Awards
At the event, many scientists and farmer groups got awards for their good work. Awards were given under the UP Agricultural Scientist Award Scheme for 2023–24 and 2024–25. The Uttar Pradesh Academy of Agricultural Sciences (UPAAS) also gave fellowships to top achievers.
New Books and Song Launched
During the function, a national seminar called ‘Developed Agriculture, Developed Uttar Pradesh @ 2047’ was started. The CM launched the new UPCAR song too. He released new books and magazines as well. These books explain new ways to grow millets and use natural farming for better crops.
Research Must Reach Every Farmer
Today, only about 25% to 30% of farmers use new research on their farms. The CM urged that this must change. He pointed out that UP has only 11% of India’s farm land but grows over 20% of India’s grains. So, if farmers use new ideas, they can triple the production.
Local Research Needed for Local Fields
He explained that research must fit local weather, soil, and climate. Global methods may not suit India. So, the state needs its own solutions. UP can produce enough food not only for India but for the world too.
Farmers Must Face Climate Change Smartly
Weather patterns change every year. Some areas get too much or too little rain. Because of this, farmers must get seeds that grow even when rain is late. They must learn new sowing methods too. If they get the right help on time, their crops will not fail.
Agriculture Gives Jobs to Millions
Farming gives work to almost 30 million people in the state. After farming, MSMEs give jobs to about 16.5 million people. The CM said that farming should make people happy so they do not have to leave their villages. If research reaches them, they can earn more and live better.
Clear Targets for a 1-Trillion-Dollar Economy
India wants to become a 5-trillion-dollar economy by 2027. Uttar Pradesh aims to reach 1 trillion dollars by 2029. The CM said that when India touches 30 trillion dollars by 2047, UP must play a big role. For this, farming must grow fast.
Centres of Excellence Will Expand
The CM said Israel is helping UP set up Centres of Excellence for farming. More centres will open soon. Bundelkhand now has natural farming in all seven districts. Free seed kits are given to grow more pulses and oilseeds. These steps will help farmers earn more.
Research and Training Will Bring Growth
The CM said UPCAR will keep helping farmers with new ideas. Research and training can cut costs and raise output. This will bring more income to farmers’ homes.
Many Leaders and Officers Present
At the event, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister Baldev Singh Aulakh and top officers and scientists joined the CM.
