New Birju Maharaj Kathak Sansthan Building on Shaheed Path
Modern five-storey campus to host Kathak classes, cultural events, and student facilities in Lucknow
Lucknow | 14, August 2025 : A new Birju Maharaj Kathak Sansthan building is coming up on Shaheed Path. It is near the Police Headquarters in Lucknow. The cost is about ₹41 crore. When finished, the institute will move here from Qaiserbagh.
Work in Progress
UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Limited is building it. The building will have five floors. Work is going fast. It should be ready by April next year.
What the New Building Will Have
The complex will offer many facilities:
- Parking in the basement
- A Kathak museum
- Library and meeting rooms
- Classrooms and faculty rooms
- Computer and recording rooms
- Mess and student hostel
- Two guest suites
- Three auditoriums for cultural events at low rates
Boost for Education
The building will cover 4,510 sq m. It will allow postgraduate and research courses, once approved by Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya.
Culture and Tourism Principal Secretary Mukesh Meshram said the old site limited growth. The new one will help students and teachers.
Sansthan President Kumkum Dhar said the hostel will draw students from all over India.
A New Era for Kathak
This new Birju Maharaj Kathak Sansthan building will mix tradition with modern needs. It will be a place to learn, perform, and enjoy Kathak.
