UP Govt Plans Major Upgrade to Bateshwar’s Temples and Village Facilities

Lucknow | 21, July 2025 : The Uttar Pradesh government will spend ₹27 crore on Bateshwar village. This is the home village of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The plan is to make Bateshwar a top place for tourists and pilgrims.

Better Spiritual Sites

The government wants Bateshwar on India’s religious map. The plan will make temples and ghats better. Visitors will get more comfort and safety.

Work at Gopaleshwar Temple

Out of the total money, ₹19 crore will improve the ghats at Gopaleshwar Temple. The work will make the place clean and calm. Pilgrims will have a safe space to pray.

New Big Gates

Two big gates will be built for Bateshwar. They will be on Firozabad Road and the Expressway Road. The gates will cost ₹5 crore. They will match the village’s old look. These gates will welcome all pilgrims in a nice way.

Signs for Eco-Tourism

New signs will guide tourists near Rapri. These signs will help people find their way. They will also make Bateshwar an eco-tourism spot.

Better Roads and Toilets

The plan will also spend ₹2 crore on roads and toilets. Good roads and clean toilets will help everyone. Locals and tourists will get better services.

Why Bateshwar is Special

Bateshwar is by the Yamuna river in Chambal. It has 101 old Shiva temples. These temples were made by the Pratihara kings. The temples are in Nagara style. They are very old and holy.

Part of New Tourist Route

Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh says this plan is big for UP. Agra has the Taj Mahal. But Bateshwar, Kannauj, and Braj will also bring new visitors. This will help local people earn more money.

Saving History

The plan will keep Bateshwar’s history safe. It will build roads and toilets. It will also protect Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s village for the future.
