Asheesh Pandey Becomes MD & CEO of Union Bank of India

New Delhi | 7, October 2025 : Shri Asheesh Pandey Union Bank of India has taken charge as Managing Director and CEO. He brings over 27 years of banking experience. His new role is expected to give the bank a strong digital push.

Long Career in Banking

Mr. Pandey started his career at Corporation Bank in Mumbai. He worked in the Industrial Finance Branch and later in the Investment and International Banking Division. These early roles gave him a solid foundation in credit and global banking.

Contribution at Bank of Maharashtra

Before this post, he was Executive Director at Bank of Maharashtra for almost four years. There he:

• Expanded corporate credit and treasury
• Promoted digital lending
• Used AI and machine learning in operations
• Introduced robotic process automation

These steps helped the bank speed up services and improve customer experience.

Driving Digital Change at Union Bank

Earlier, as Chief General Manager and COO at Union Bank of India, Shri Asheesh Pandey Union Bank of India led many digital projects. Some of them were:

• WhatsApp Banking
• Video KYC
• Online death claim settlement
• Digi Connect branches
• Doorstep Banking
• Advanced dashboards for monitoring

These tools helped customers get faster and easier banking solutions.

Wide Experience Across Roles

Mr. Pandey has worked in several key areas such as credit, treasury, foreign banking, and customer relations. As General Manager of Credit Monitoring, he used data tools and predictive models. These tools helped the bank manage risks better.

Other Positions Held

He also served as Chairman of The Maharashtra Executor & Trustee Co. Ltd., a Bank of Maharashtra subsidiary. In addition, he was President and Trustee of Gramin Mahila Va Balak Vikas Mandal, a social trust supported by the bank.

Academic and Professional Growth

Mr. Pandey is a Mechanical Engineer with a Post-Graduate degree in Management. He is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He also holds NSE certificates in insurance, mutual funds, and demat operations.

He is an alumnus of IIM Bangalore and has completed leadership programs. In 2023, he also attended the Directors Development Program by Egon Zehnder with Harvard Business Publishing.
