Yogi Govt to Set Up ‘Adarsh Gaushalas’ in Uttar Pradesh

New Model Cow Shelters to Promote Natural Farming and Create Jobs in Rural UP

Lucknow | 21. July 2025 : The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh will soon set up new Adarsh Gaushalas. The goal is to improve cow welfare, promote natural farming, and help villages become self-reliant.

In the first phase, eight Adarsh Gaushalas will open. These will come up in Ayodhya, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Chitrakoot, Bareilly, Agra, Kanpur, and Jhansi. Each one will act as a model shelter that runs on its own and shows others how to do the same.

Helping Farmers Use Natural Farming

The state will also develop one block in every division as a natural farming hub. This will follow the ‘Gram Urja Model’. The first Adarsh Gaushala at Majhgainwan block in Bareilly will use a waste-free shed. This will cut fodder waste and show the best way to care for cows.

This plan will help farmers shift to natural ways of farming. They can use cow dung and urine to make manure and bio-pesticides. This will lower the use of chemicals and keep the soil healthy.

More Jobs and Income in Villages

The Adarsh Gaushalas will create jobs in villages. Women’s groups and youth will get work. They can make cow dung-based items like compost, fuel, and organic products. Items like diyas and eco-friendly idols can also be made and sold.

The Cow Service Commission of Uttar Pradesh will look after these shelters. Its head, Shyam Bihari Gupta, said the plan includes new sheds and better systems. The aim is to make each gaushala earn its own money.

Earlier governments did not give enough focus to cow care. But this time, the Yogi government wants to make cow protection strong. The goal is to run these Adarsh Gaushalas well and help villages grow.

The Adarsh Gaushalas project will help cows and farmers. It will build a clean and green economy in rural Uttar Pradesh. With this plan, villages will have more jobs, better farms, and healthy cattle.
