‘Make in UP’ Model to Boost Industries in Rural and Semi-Urban Areas
CM Yogi Adityanath Reviews State’s Economic Progress

Lucknow | 18, July 2025 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level meeting at his official home in Lucknow. He reviewed the state’s economic growth, new plans, and income sources. According to him, the journey of Uttar Pradesh Economic Growth has moved “from potential to results.” He added that this progress is inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India.
GSDP Shows Strong Signs of Progress
The state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is set to reach ₹29.6 lakh crore in 2024-25. This will be about 80% higher than in 2020-21. Moreover, Uttar Pradesh’s share in India’s economy has grown from 8.4% to 8.9%.
CM Yogi called this growth a big step towards Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh. He aims to raise the state’s share to 10% by 2026. For him, real change must be visible on the ground, not just in numbers.
Industries and Services Drive Economic Change
The state’s economy is transforming fast. Both manufacturing and services are expanding each year. Meanwhile, farming’s share is shrinking slowly. Therefore, CM Yogi said the ‘Make in UP’ plan should lead growth for the next decade.
He asked officials to help build more factories in villages and small towns. As a result, people in these areas will find local jobs, helping Uttar Pradesh Economic Growth reach new heights.
Food Production Rises but Gaps Remain
Food grain output may reach 722 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25, which is 100 lakh metric tonnes more than in 2020-21. However, there are wide gaps between districts. In some places, wheat output is 46 quintals per hectare. In others, it stays near 30 quintals.
To fix this, CM Yogi wants stronger help for farmers and more training drives. This step will help balance output across the state.
Animal Husbandry Needs More Focus
Uttar Pradesh is India’s top milk producer and has also improved egg output. Still, the Chief Minister said each animal’s output must go up too. He advised officials to work on better breeds, feed plans, and data checks for dairy work.
IT and Tourism Sectors Are Thriving
IT exports have grown sharply. Through STPI, the state exported IT services worth ₹46,800 crore in 2024-25, which is 40% higher than in 2021-22. This shows big scope for young people.
Along with this, tourism, hotels, and trade are growing too. Tourist numbers are rising after the pandemic. This trend supports Uttar Pradesh Economic Growth in a big way.
Good Growth in GST and Excise Revenues
The state’s GST collection for 2024-25 crossed ₹1.49 lakh crore, which is a 6.6% rise over last year. Excise revenue touched ₹52,574 crore, growing about 15% each year.
CM Yogi said these results prove that the state is becoming more self-reliant. He added that this money must support better services and welfare for people.
Transport: A Sector Full of Potential
During the meeting, the CM called road transport a sector full of new chances. He suggested adding private bus routes to make travel easier for people. This will also open new ways to earn revenue and create jobs for many.
Right Data Will Shape Smart Policies
Finally, CM Yogi stressed that all departments must share correct and current data. He wants clear, timed plans for every key sector — farming, industry, services, energy, and jobs. Accurate numbers help build good policies, which drive strong Uttar Pradesh Economic Growth.
