Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre to Be Handed Over to LDA
Lucknow Development Authority to Take Full Control of JPNIC Project

Lucknow | 3, July 2025 : The government has now decided to dissolve the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre Society (JPNIC) and transfer all its work, operation, and maintenance responsibilities directly to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA).
Why the JPNIC Society Will Be Dissolved
Initially, the JPNIC Society was formed to execute and manage the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre. However, to ensure better administration and faster progress, the government has proposed dissolving the society. Therefore, the permanent centre will be fully handed over to the Lucknow Development Authority for streamlined management.
Financial Restructuring for Smooth Execution
Project Funds Transferred as Loan
So far, the state government has approved a total of ₹821.74 crore for the JPNIC project. This amount will now be treated as a transferred loan to the LDA.
Clear Repayment Plan
The Lucknow Development Authority will repay this loan over the next 30 years. As a result, the financial burden will spread over time, ensuring the project remains sustainable.
How LDA Will Complete and Manage the Project
The Lucknow Development Authority will directly complete the pending construction and operational tasks of the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre.
Additionally, the LDA will:
- Define clear conditions and processes for maintenance and operation
- Engage private participation to ensure proper upkeep
- Dissolve the existing JPNIC Society and close its membership
- Undertake any other actions needed for a smooth handover
Furthermore, the LDA will take full responsibility to avoid any administrative gaps.
Key Facilities for Public Benefit
World-Class Amenities Planned
Once completed, the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre will offer several top-class facilities for the people of Lucknow. These include:
- A state-level auditorium for cultural and official events
- A modern convention centre for large gatherings
- A world-class sports complex
- A multipurpose sports court
- Multi-level parking for 750 four-wheeler vehicles
Consequently, the public will benefit from upgraded infrastructure and modern amenities.
Impact on Lucknow’s Development
This handover aims to boost Lucknow’s urban infrastructure. By giving full charge to the LDA, the government ensures faster completion, transparent management, and efficient use of funds. Moreover, the new centre will serve as a hub for conventions, sports, and cultural activities, placing Lucknow firmly on the map for world-class civic amenities.
